We’re just a few weeks away from entering the new year, which means there will be a new crop of 25-year-old cars available for import into the United States. Earlier this week I asked you to share what car from 2000 you’d want to import, and your answers ran the gamut. (A lot of them had already debuted before 2000, but I’ll let it slide.) Click through to see the best ones, and let us know in the comments which is your favorite.

YES YES YES. Best DD ever in a V8 RWD Manual in a Ute body.

I’ll never say no to a ute, and I do like the design of this generation.

UK Market Lotus Elise S1. I know the Elise we got wasn’t too different, but there’s just something about the S1 that spreads a smile across my face. Might as well go with the John Player Special

No you’re totally right, the S1s are so cute.

The Evo 6.5 or TME is my sought after vehicle to import. Mitu’s love letter to Tommi Makinen’s legendary consecutive wrc wins and what he did for the Evo as a whole. A slightly harder core Evo, complete with different bumpers, a wide body, I believe 17" Enkei white wheels and a titanium Turbined Turbo.

There’s at least a couple of these in LA, and they’re awesome.

Somebody already said Evo 6.5, so instead I’ll come with an answer a little bit out of left field; Vemac RD180. Looks like an S1 Elise, but was actually it’s own thing designed for JGTC racing. 1.8 B series, ~178 hp, 2,090 lbs.

TVR Tuscan

The TVR Tuscan Review With Richard Hammond

I mean technically you can start importing them now because they were made in 1999, but there’s probably a great spec that was made in 2000 that I’d want.

The Tuscan speed 6. Even though TVR claims they started production in 1999, they started delivering them to customers in 2020 so these will only really become available for import this year.

If you ever manage to get one running reliably, it will probably kill you with it’s unwieldy handling and complete lack of safety features, but what a beautiful coffin it would be.

The Tuscan is just spectacular, especially in one of TVR’s iconic color-shift paints.

Nissan Silvia Spec R. You can rarely, if ever, find an unmolested and low mileage 240SX in the U.S. so might as well go for the best version from elsewhere.

definitely, the reason to bring it to USA is to show why FRS 86 BRZ need to have a turbo

S2000 and MX-5 Miata ?? oh please, if 86 had a turbo, it could be a spiritual successor to Nissan Silvia Spec R S15

Two of my friends just imported S15s this year, they’re sick. Such a fantastic design, apparently great to drive, and not nearly as pricey as Skylines (yet).

The coupe was done by Pininfarina, which explains why it’s one of the best-looking cars of the past, like, four decades.

Opel Calibra coupe. A nicely styled coupe that we were supposed to get under the Saturn brand. It’s based on the GM2900 platform which was shared with the Saturn L-Series and Saab 9-3 and 9-5 so parts availability isn’t much of an issue.

Honorable Mention: Alfa Romeo Brera

Honorable Mention: Alfa Romeo Brera

Image for article titled These Are The Cars From The Year 2000 You Want To Import In 2025
Photo: Alfa Romeo

My first thought was an Alfa Romeo Brera, but it only debuted at Geneva in 2002...so close.

Just 2 more years until I could get a Brera? Yeah I can wait for that.

I was visiting family in UK back in 2000ish and stopped by an Alfa Dealer. Sat in one of the Brera’s on the showroom floor and just started drooling... Couple other trips over there and I’ve seen them on the road too and they’re still gorgeous cars.

Submitted by: Monsterajr, Norbus

I’m letting this slide because the Brera is one of my favorite designs of all time. The concept came out in 2002, but the production car didn’t launch til 2005, so we’ve still got a few years of yearning left.
