Normal brain: a car with two seats. Expanding brain: three seats, like the McLaren F1. Galaxy brain: only one seat, for you and you alone. That’s the car you really want! And Ferrari is giving it to 100 lucky customers in the form of the Ferrari Monza SP1, and it packs a 789 horsepower V12.
Don’t worry, there’s a two-seater version called the Monza SP2 as well, also limited to just 100 units. But the one-seater is where it’s really unique.
Official pictures and details aren’t out yet, but the cars were leaked via the Instagram account Ferrari.Icona yesterday evening, documenting a special event in Maranello where the cars were unveiled.
The UK’s Autocar reports the Monza cars have the nearly 800 HP V12 from the 812 Superfast, the front-engine successor to the old F12 Berlinetta. Reports indicate both cars are made from lightweight carbon fiber and should pull zero to 60 mph in under three seconds.
From Automotive News:
The Monza models were inspired by the 1948 166 MM Barchetta and 1954 750 Monza cars that had the style of the “barchetta,” a term originally used for lightweight, open-topped racing cars of the 1940s and 1950s.
“Barchettas were the most intoxicating experience for any pilot,” head of product marketing Nicola Boari told a news conference on Tuesday at Ferrari’s headquarters here in northern Italy.
