David Tracy’s $800 1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer survived the 1,700 mile drive from Detroit to Moab and even a day of light off-roading. Now it’s time for us to head back to Michigan, and we’re planning to make Denver by tonight. If you’re in town, come say hey. [Update: This meetup is canceled, as the Jeep is stuck on the other side of a mountain. See note below.]
The Jeep is loaded and we’re pushing off from Moab any minute, and as it stands the plan is to roll up at Nighthawk Brewery (2780 Industrial Ln, Broomfield, CO 80020) at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 28.
This will be an informal, unofficial gathering if any of you do decide to stop by and say hello. We won’t be buying any drinks (sorry, but Jalopnik’s entire editorial budget went into this Jeep. Raph, if you’re reading this, we’re sorry about your paychecks, they’ve been put to good use).
But if you’ve been following Project Redwood’s big adventure and want to see Tracy’s saggy Waggy for yourself, this just might be your chance.
We will probably be tired, but we’ll do our best to regale you with trail tales if you so desire.
Sorry about the late start time and late notice. Plans on this trip have been fluid and uh, let’s just say sometimes that fluid gets vaporized. With that in mind, I can’t completely guarantee we’ll make it on time or at all but we’ll do our best not to let y’all down if you do decide to roll up.
Check the comments here, my Twitter and David’s Instagram for updates as that might be the first spot you’ll see trouble.
Meanwhile, thanks to everyone who’s followed along and helped us make it to Moab. Here’s hoping our ride back east is smooth and safe.
UPDATE [9:37 p.m. ET]: Sadly, the Vail pass is closed and the Jeep is stuck on the wrong side of it, so this meetup has to be canceled. Another time, we hope!
