There’s only so much us meager passengers can see during the final approach of a flight. Thanks to a new high-definition video, we’re able to get a glimpse of what it’s like inside the cabin of a Boeing 777 as it makes a descent toward New York City. It’s fascinating to watch.
The seven-minute clip from High Pressure Aviation Films offers a wide-angle shot of the city’s skyline, and there’s helpful captions that illustrate what the pilots are doing. (Air Traffic Control types talk too damn fast.)
Pilots have to work through a laundry list of items during the last stretch of a flight. Seeing it laid out in final detail, set against the lovely backdrop of NYC’s skyline at night, makes for an engrossing clip.
It’s especially neat during the final moments before touching down. Enjoy the ride.
