The 2018 Subaru Ascent is an eight-seater crossover designed to climb the mountain of crossovers and crush them all. Hop in kids, time to activate our growing family’s lifestyle.
If you haven’t noticed, the industry has been trending towards bigger, seven-seat crossovers and SUVs lately. Subaru previously tried with the Tribeca, but you can’t even get the company to talk about that anymore. The 2018 Ascent is round two, and it’s basically just everything that already basically sells itself, now with more seats.
And yeah, that was right, this three-row crossover can pack in a whole eight little active lifestyles, and comes with a CVT and AWD as standard. It also is debuting with a brand new 2.4-liter turbo flat-four, climbing mountains and fording streams with 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, with a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds with the appropriate package equipped.
The Ascent will also offer a suite of safety features called EyeSight, offering forward collision warning, active lane control, a heads-up display, and automatic emergency braking, all standard on every trim level.
The Ascent will go up against the Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, Volkswagen Atlas, and Chevy Traverse. It goes on sale this upcoming summer, with pricing to be announced later. Doesn’t matter! Subaru is going to sell every one they make.
