It’s another gorgeous day near Hallingdal, Norway and you’re just trucking along in your big red rig. It’s the middle of the afternoon, and you’re making your way toward your final delivery for the day, thinking that it would be nice to get home to enjoy a sensible meal, and then OH MY GOD DON’T HIT THAT KID!
Don’t worry, no children are hurt in this video, but it sure could have ended very differently if the driver of the truck hadn’t been paying attention, or if the truck was hauling a particularly heavy load, or if any aspect of the braking system was in disrepair.
There’s a big bright green bus in the oncoming lane that has stopped to release some children to their home. Then, from behind that big green bus runs one of those silly children. It’s a close call, but the kid doesn’t end up getting hurt.
I’m not sure what the rules are in Norway about passing a stopped bus, but here in the U.S. that’s an absolute no-go. Thankfully this video didn’t end in tragedy, and to prevent such a thing from happening, now is the perfect time to reiterate to your children that the road is a dangerous place.
And as a driver, maybe you need a reminder, too.
