I often wonder which automaker will have the guts to come out with a fun hybrid or electric sports car that’s actually affordable. And a lot of the time I keep thinking if anyone could do it it’s Honda, which has given us impressive electrified offerings like the new NSX and Accord Hybrid—even with the occasional misfire like the CR-Z. Meet the Honda Sports EV Concept. I hope it leads to good things.
This guy was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show today, but the truth is we don’t know a ton about the concept yet. It’s very clearly similar in design to the crowd pleaser Honda Urban EV concept we saw at Frankfurt last month, and that car was an electro-future version of a Civic hatchback from the late 1970s.
This thing is a bit of a different animal, and from the shape of things it’s clearly aimed at being fun to drive.
What we do know is it’s a two-seater, it’s electric and Honda says it is “a concept model which combines EV performance and AI (artificial intelligence) inside a compact body with the aim to realize the joy of driving the user can feel with a sense of unity with the car.”
Interesting! I guess. I do like the design, and maybe it will be something to look forward to, since that new S2000 and “baby NSX” are probably never happening. More on this as we get it.
