The 1988 Suzuki Cervo was the first production car in the world with electric power steering, or EPS, a system developed by Japanese auto supplier Koyo (now JTEKT). The new system was more efficient than traditional hydraulic pump-driven systems that were prominent at the time, and today, almost all new small cars are fitted with EPS. So though it might not look like much, that cute little Cervo changed the face of the automotive industry.
