In case you weren’t able to make it, we held our Are You Faster Than A Jalopnik Writer karting event yesterday evening at the Autobahn Indoor Speedway in West Nyack. It was terrific fun and the turnout was incredible!
Even though it was fun to go karting (I hadn’t done it in years), it was more fun to get to chat and kick it with you, the lovely members of the Jalopnik community. Easily identifiable by your Blipshift t-shirts or the racing helmets you carried under your arms, you guys definitely brought the party. On behalf of everyone on the Jalopnik payroll, we want to offer you our sincerest thanks.
And it was more than just fun, the proceeds from the event (a little more than $2500) will be going to Jacob San Martin of McPherson College, the person you selected as a recipient of a grant from the RPM Foundation. He’s currently a junior in the Automotive Restoration program who helped build a Model T Speedster body from scratch during his freshman year. He’s an enthusiast through and through, and we’re thrilled that our community is helping him pursue his dreams.
We also want to offer special thanks to the Autobahn Indoor Speedway staff and our friends at Blipshift. Without you guys, we would have had no event and a very empty Sunday evening indeed! You all rock!
