Snoop Dogg and Kobe Bryant’s friendship goes way beyond cute matching hats, guys. In honor of Bryant’s retirement from an epic NBA career Snoop’s bequeathing him this righteous Lakers-themed lowrider.
Looks like Snoop’s been rolling around in this 1967 Pontiac Parisienne since at least 2005, when he was spotted in it at the MTV Video Music Awards and a GM sponsored car show called “Rollin’ 24 Deep” where Shaq signed the car’s bodywork.
If it is the same car, it’s sitting on a legit up-and-down hydraulic suspension system. Of course you can see the sweet-ass mural of an alternate-universe Lakers team where Snoop plays... whatever position does the money-counting and trophy-holding I guess. I don’t know. I’m not that into sports.
I suppose it’s also possible the Doggfather has had more than one yellow Pontiac convertible, but I’m pretty sure this Lakers-themed ride has been in his fleet since at least 2010, when Celebrity Cars Blog and TMZ/Urban Islandz reported it getting impounded. (Apparently “whoever was driving it” was pulled over with a suspended license.)
Oh, also Larry King drove it.
Bryant described the retirement gift as “unbelievable” in a tweet.
The car’s appeal to a Lakers fan (or former player) is obvious, but I have to say I really dig the purple convertible top regardless. This may well be the first time I’ve seen one ever.
Enjoy retirement, Mr. Bryant. And this baller slab.
