This week Jalopnik’s driving the 2016 Hyundai Genesis. Don’t worry, we’ll get to “how it compares to a 5 Series.” What do you want to know that you can’t find in the brochure?
The short story is: this car has blown me away. There’s a sophisticated simplicity about the whole human-machine interface and a sharp but relaxed personality about the car that I really like.
Hyundai has made huge improvements to their offerings over the years, and it’s actually kind of amazing that this machine comes from the same nameplate we used to think of as a “knock-off Honda.”
That said, it’s priced accordingly. The MSRP on the Genesis we’re driving, with rear-wheel drive, the “Signature Package” (panoramic roof and other toys), “Tech Package” (nicer seats and alarm bells for every mis-motion), and “Ultimate Package” (heads-up display and huge infotainment screen), is a little over $50,000.
So let me know what you’d like to know about this car, and I’ll answer everything I can in these comments and in the forthcoming review.
