“When there’s blood on the streets, buy real estate,” goes an old saying among people who are probably also horrible war profiteers. But when some sort of scandal catches up with an automaker, when is the right time to start buying minivans?
You may have no idea what the hell I’m going on about, but lately there have been a few questions surrounding the re-sale values of Volkswagens right now, as the company staggers on with Dieselgate. Will the cars go down in value? (Probably.) Will they go up in value? (Almost definitely not, at least in the short term.)
But what about a Volkswagen that wasn’t quite a Volkswagen at all? Particularly astute minivan fans, which I’m sure are things that must exist somewhere, have likely sussed out by now that I’m talking about the Volkswagen Routan. Yes, the Routan, which wasn’t much of a VW, as it was more of a Chrysler Town & Country more than anything else.
But McMike has his own question about the Routan:
You get those Routans, McMike. Get ‘em while they’re hot.
You’re our top comment today, McMike. May you bask in the glory of the Routans, may your body ride atop a chariot of their re-badged goodness upon your demise.
