MINI’s completely redesigned big-ass model, the Cooper Clubman, will go on sale in January as the brand emerges into the “luxury compact” segment.

The 5-door MINI Cooper Clubman is all new for 2016, and will go on sale for $24,100 in the U.S. at the start of next year, with the Clubman S starting at $27,650. Oh, and you’re going to need an extra $850 for the Destination & Handling fee that comes on both models, too.

The Clubman is now considered by MINI to be their flagship, showing off the finest luxury of the brand’s lineup, as well as being the biggest car the company makes - moving into the luxury compact sales segment.

The additional options for the MINI will be available individually as well as in bundled packages, letting you pick what you pay for. Being the flagship model, the Clubman will also come with its own special upholstery designs with classy colors like burgundy and indigo-blue leathers.

The car comes standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, with the option of an 8-speed automatic transmission available for the Cooper S, including a sport variant with paddle shifters should you so desire.

That interior looks fantastic.. for a MINI.

The cars come with BMW Group-sourced three and four cylinder engine options with “MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology,” and MINI brags that the cars have been through extensive testing on famous tracks like the Nürburgring and “the legendary roads of Wales.” Sure.

Check out The Daily Toggle for a more in-depth breakdown of the features of both the Clubman and Clubman S. Meanwhile, I’ll still be here trying to decide whether or not I like the look of the split tailgate and funky new design.

I think it’s better than the awkward new four-door Cooper, but that’s not exactly a tough job to manage. Nonetheless, I think.. I think I like it.
