The Maserati Tipo 151 is rumored to be the first car to hit 300km/h (186.4 mph) at the original Mulsanne straight at Le Mans, but despite all the V8 power, it didn’t turn out to be reliable enough to win. That doesn’t matter now.
Built as a successor to the legendary Tipo 61 Birdcage, Maserati only made three Tipo 151s for the 1962 season. Two of which went straight to America to be raced by the Cunningham team. This car, serial number 002 on the other hand was ordered by Maserati France, raced in ‘62, then extended with a Drogo-style bodywork for 1963.
It was modified further for the next year, thanks to which it could reach 300km/h in 1964. What happened to her after that is equally interesting.
Pure sex at speed, pure sex standing still.
