Students of the University of Stuttgart had enough of the fact that the electric acceleration record ended up on the shelf of students from ETH Zürich and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, so they built their own racer that was good enough to beat them by a mere 0.006 seconds.
And it does burnouts. That’s almost ludicrous!
Stuttgart’s all-wheel drive electric Formula car weighs just 352 pounds and packs four motors and a 6.62kWh battery package. Its power-to-weight ratio is worse than a Formula-1 car’s or a Koenigsegg One:1’s, but way better than the also all-wheel drive Bugatti Veyron Super Sport’s.
GreenTeam Uni Stuttgart e.V’s Priska Schmid did runs in both directions at the JadeWeser Airport to make the record official, so from now on, 1.779 seconds is the figure to beat.
Electric torque is best torque.
