The 2016 Mercedes A45 AMG Sounds Like An Angry Dragon Sneezing Bees

Mercedes has gone full Fast & Furious with the 2016 A45 AMG. It’s got the big wing, bigger wheels, red calipers, grille like Cheshire cat’s and one seriously rude exhaust note. I’m just not sure if that sound is “elite sport-luxury” or more “high-school Honda Civic” so you tell me!

The A-Class isn’t available in the U.S., but it’s facelifted for 2016 everywhere else. Starting at about $60,000, the A45 is the “entry” AMG for the European market and will have its output dialed up to 376 horsepower (or 381 metric horsepower), 351 lb-ft of torque for the new model year. Pretty impressive numbers for a two-liter turbo... and an epic angry chainsaw exhaust note to match.

Did I mention that already? Just listen to that thing gurgle marbles.

The A45 can be cycled through “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport +” and “Individual” driving modes that adjust handling characteristics and throttle response. An optional “AMG Dynamic Plus” package adds a mechanical front locking differential to add extra bite when you’re powering out of hard corners. That kit also adds a “Race” mode for super-stiff suspension to really whizz around those potholes on your run to work.
