The Ten Rarest Cars You Can Buy Today

Sometimes unicorns are even more mythical than you might expect. Here are ten of the rarest cars in production today.

10.) Cadillac ELR

The Cadillac ELR has not had an easy life. With its pricing fairing near that of the preferred Tesla Model S, it doesn’t help that to most of its potential buyers it appears to be a rebadged Chevy Volt. If for whatever reason you want to drop the extra coin on an ELR, maybe you can find one at some Cadillac dealer that was naive enough to order a couple extra for stock.

9.) Porsche 911 GT3RS

Though 991 GT3 RS production numbers haven’t yet been officially released, there is no doubt that production will be extremely limited. Yes, some of these 493 horsepower German track annihilators may end up as garage queens, but they surely won’t be spending much time sitting on Porsche dealership lots.

8.) Porsche Cayman GT4

There is so much demand for the Cayman GT4 it’s incredible. We haven’t seen anything official but the guys over on the Cayman GT4 forum have predicted that Porsche will only be sending 600 of these to America, and if you aren’t already an owner of a 918 Spyder, you’re really going to have a hard time finding one. At least there are probably still allocation spots available for the similar and possibly even cooler Boxster Spyder.

7.) BMW 435 ZHP

Back in the days of the E46 330i, this performance package might not have been a common option, but it was undoubtedly one of the best. Now with the BMW F32s, production of this special edition is not only limited, it makes it nearly impossible to find one. Maybe there’s some hope that BMW will produce more ZHPs and they’ll start issuing the ZHP designation to some special 2ers...

6.) 2015 Shelby Mustang GT350

The GT350R will be in even more limited production than the GT350, but let us not forget that there will also be limited quantities of the ‘base’ GT350. For the first year of production, there will only be 100 of these flat-planed monsters. Get em while they’re hot!

5.) Pagani Huayra Roadster

With Pagani confirming that all 100 hardtop units have been sold and signed for, your only hope as a prospective Huayra buyer is to wait for the roadster, which there will be another 100 units of. At least Pagani is sweetening the deal by shedding some weight with the roadster and stretching out 20 more horsepower. Hey, maybe this open top isn’t such a bad thing.

4.) Ford Mustang GT350R

For the first year of GT350R production, Ford is only producing 37 cars. This is of course in effort to honor the late Carroll Shelby and his choice to manufacture the same amount of GT350s back in 1965. Let’s hope that the Ford’s worker elves will be able to get a few more to dealership lots for the 2016 model year.

3.) Nissan Juke R 2.0

When the first Juke R was announced, Nissan sought to deliver 20 of these li’l beasts. Now with a recently announced spec bump and extended production, I can’t imagine Nissan will be building many more. Good luck finding one.

2.) SCG 003

Official production numbers have not been revealed but I can promise you these road-going GT racers will not be easy to come by. Also, if you live in the states, have fun paying for those $224K DOT approved taillights, oh, and reconstructing the car for its border entry.

1.) Lamborghini Veneno Roadster

With only four hard-topped Venenos pumped out, surely Lamborghini buyers will be jumping over each other in line for one of the nine Veneno Roadsters that Lamborghini has promised the world. Word is our own Patrick George has already claimed three for himself.
