Earlier this year, we reported on Team Qik, who claimed they smashed the previous cross-country driving record by a whopping 9 hours. Now, we’re proud to announce they’re official record-holders... for the time they DIDN’T spend driving.
Carl Reese, Deena Mastracci, and Rodney Hawk have been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records not for their 58 hour 55 minute drive from Los Angeles to New York, but for the mere 12 hours of charging time for their 3,011-mile trip. No official body records records for the actual trip; but the charging data is on the books.
When asked for comment, Reese said, “Stay Tuned to Jalopnik…..we are going to set a few more records!!” You heard the man. Stay tuned!
