Plug alert: Last year I worked on a two-hour special called Driving America about how the automobile shaped how we work, live, and play. It’s going to air tonight at 9:00 PM EDT/PDT on the National Geographic Channel. You can come back here around 8:30 PM and we’ll talk about it.
Think of it as the Cosmos of American car culture, taking you from the very beginning with Oliver Evans and his steam-powered amphicar through today’s electric cars and everything in between.
You’ll probably be a couple of beers and a half-dozen hot dogs in so you’ll have nothing better to do than set the TV to the National Geographic Channel and watch me (and a lot of smarter people) sit in all the cars that exist at the Classic Car Club Manhattan.
