Vice President Joe Biden may think he’s running for the highest office in the land, but at a Yale Commencement Day speech he didn’t hesitate to tackle the big issue: Porsche v. Corvette. Specifically, he told the crowd that “Corvettes are better than Porsches. They’re quicker and they corner as well.” Shots fired.
The speech, as Politico reports, walked the line between a warm up set at Catch A Rising Star and an actual commencement day speech, but Joe Biden already deftly walks the line between our nation’s Second-in-Command and your handsy, slightly off kilter uncle.
Here’s what he said, exactly:
“Now look — I realize no one ever doubts I mean what I say. The problem occasionally is, I say all that I mean. I have a bad reputation for being straight, sometimes at inappropriate times.”
“So here it goes — let’s get a couple things straight right off the bat: Corvettes are better than Porsches. They’re quicker and they corner as well. And sorry guys, a cappella is not better than rock and roll, and your pundits aren’t better than Washington pundits, although I’ve noticed that neither has any shame at all.”
Biden may wash his Trans-Am on the White House driveway in The Onion’s wacky narrative, but the real Biden is a ‘Vette man who once rattled off one of the most badass sentences ever spoken about the new Corvette Z06. He may not be Commander-in-Chief, but he sure as hell is our Gearhead-in-Chief.
What do you think? If the Veep right?
