If you're wondering what the next A6 wagon will look like, your answer has arrived in the form of the Audi Prologue Avant concept. And it looks pissed.
The original Audi Prologue coupe pointed the way forward for Audi designs, and now we get to see what those creases and curves look like with a hatch grafted to the back.
The front end is practically copied over from the concept shown in LA, with a massive hexagonal grille, pointed laser headlights, and LED-rimmed air intakes. The low roof and high beltline also come along for the ride to Wagon Town, and the dimensions are are only 10 mm shorter than the A9-in-waiting, with a total length of 5,110 mm (201.2 inches) and a low roofline of 1,400 mm (55.1 inches).
Power is provided by Audi's tried-and-true 3.0-liter TDI V6, but outputting 455 HP and 553 lb-ft of torque. That's combined with a variant of the same plug-in hybrid system that's slated for the Audi Q7, providing an all-electric range of just over 30 miles and a 0-62 MPH run of 5.1 seconds. Naturally, that grunt is sent to all four wheels suspended by an adaptive air suspension, and Audi fitted wireless charging for the battery so owners don't have to fiddle with plugs.
The interior is festooned with screens. There's Audi's Virtual Cockpit for the driver, along with a screen on the left to handle driver assistance functions and another on the right for multimedia. The display ahead of the shifter is designed for entering navigation destinations and tweaking the climate control, while yet another is mounted ahead of the front passenger, and flexible OLEDs plus the Audi Tablet are integrated into the back to keep the kiddies occupied.
Audi is also touting a virtual "butler" feature that identifies the driver based on their phone, and then adjusts everything from the seat to the temperature to the music and route preferences to suit.
The Prologue Avant is making its debut in Geneva, and expect the redesigned A6 – due out next year – to follow its lead.
