A positive milestone for the F-35 program came Sunday as a quartet of the $120M jets flew from their nest at Luke AFB to University of Phoenix stadium after a air-to-air training sortie to execute a four ship flyover for the NFL Pro Bowl.

Although the fingertip formation was nice, the transitional lighting made the jet's hard to see, especially for the brief moment they appear through the stadium's roof aperture. Additionally, since the jets seemed to be more or less coasting at low-power, limiting their audible signature, the thundering crescendo associated with flyovers didn't seem present.

Although flyovers are a fairly delicate art in timing, stroking the afterburners while over the stadium would go a long way to make these moments more memorable and get more exposure for the armed services:
