Usually when someone says "it's a race car for the street" it's complete and utter bullshit, but not in the case with this insane 500 Abarth. Fiat took the already-crazy standard 500 Abarth and set their insane-o-meter for warp drive.
EVO's Senior Sideburns Editor Henry Catchpole went to Varano Circut in Italy to sample this crazy Cinquecento, and some spectacular historic Abarths like the original 695.
Fiat bumped the output of the standard car to 187 BHP with a carbon fiber intake, a larger intercooler, and an upgraded titanium exhaust. Somehow it sounds even better than the standard car, which already had one of the best exhaust notes on the market.
They also took out the rear seats (hence the name Biposto), added a race-car digital gauge cluster, and a freakin' dogbox. It's the closest thing you can get to a legitimate rally car for the street – sorry STI owners.
Sadly – and unsurprisingly – Fiat won't bring this to the US, but it still makes me so happy. I love that Fiat is insane enough to actually make this uncompromising of a car.
Oh, and it won't be cheap – the fully specced one Henry tested cost, and I hope you're sitting down for this, $80,000. So, you could have this, or a Z06. Take your pick?
