Why Would Anyone Want An Outdated Maserati GranTurismo?

The Maserati GranTurismo has been around since 2007, which makes it pretty old, as far as new cars are concerned. Why would anyone want one when there's a multitude of competitors that are newer, and objectively better? There's actually a few good reasons.

Alex Goy and XCAR explore what makes the old Maser so great in their latest video, featuring a lovely GranTurismo MC Stradale.

The first reason is the noise. Oh my god, the noise. I wouldn't care if it only made 20 hp if it sounded like that. It's musical in a way that the V8s in the Corvette Stingray and Jaguar F-Type could only hope to be. If I owned this car, I'd put it in race mode and leave it in 2nd gear all day.

The second reason you'd want one is the looks. Sure, the F-Type and the AMG GT look fantastic, but the GranTurismo can easily hold it's own parked next to one of them. You'd have to be insane to call this car ugly.

The third reason you'd want a GranTurismo is because it's a Maserati. It's the esoteric choice in the world of luxury sports/GT cars. As Alex notes, you buy one because it isn't a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. With a GranTurismo, you stand out from the crowd, but not in an ostentatious way.

So yeah, the GranTurismo is old, but don't count it out.
