Ten Cars That Would Make Great Food Trucks

I'd buy so many burritos from these potential food trucks.

10.) Smart ForTwo

You'd think a Smart would be too tiny to make a food truck, but it's perfect for housing a small amount of cooking/storing equipment. I'm thinking a Smart donut truck would be just right for New York.

9.) Scion xB

Kei vans are used all the time as food trucks in Japan. Since we (sadly) don't get those in America, a first-gen Scion XB is probably the closest thing. Plus it's already been done with the xD.

8.) Pontiac Aztek

The people at Pontiac clearly had food trucks in mind when they designed the Aztek – the center console is a removable cooler, and there are grocery compartments in the sliding floor. See! It was 99% a food truck from the factory.

7.) Matra Rancho

You might have a difficult time finding one of these in the US, but they are eligible for importing under the 25-year rule. The Rancho came with a sliding rear window and easy to clean body panels, which makes it an excellent food truck.

6.) Buick Roadmaster Estate

The Roadmaster Estate has more space and style than you could ever need. You probably won't be able to stand inside, but that's a minor oversight.

5.) Toyota Previa

Any minivan makes a great food truck, so you might as well pick the greatest one ever built, the Toyota Previa. As a bonus you could use its mid-mounted engine to cook, saving you the cost of an oven.

4.) Ford Transit Connect

Probably not the most interesting choice, but a sensible one. The Transit Connect is just the right size for the city and fuel efficient, too.

3.) Citroën H Van

If you wan't your food truck to be stylish, an old Citroën H Van is probably the best way to go. Ralph Lauren has been using one as a coffee truck, and he's a pretty stylish dude.

2.) Ford Econoline

The Econoline is the most obvious choice, but for good reason. They're cheap, parts are plentiful, and you can convert them to whatever the hell you want.

1.) Volkswagen Type 2 Westfalia

Pop open the top and you have more headroom than you'd ever need, plus who wouldn't buy food from an old Type 2? It's the perfect mix of form and function
