The 2015 Ford Mustang is a car designed for the global market and the first Mustang in 50 years to be available in a factory-built right-hand-drive configuration. Good times? Good times!

One of my favorite hot hatchbacks of all time, the Fiat Ritmo Abarth 125TC was never sold in the UK because the position of the exhaust pipe would have clashed with the right hand-drive steering gear. Italiano.

Ford is smarter than that. They sold more than 4,000 Mustangs in 35 countries outside of North America in 2012, some of which were turned into right-hand-drive by aftermarket companies. But those days are over.

The new car will be available with the steering wheel on the wrong side directly from the Michigan factory. The European Mustangs will get the new Performance Pack as well, which adds high performance brakes, 19-inch alloy wheels, additional cooling, thicker sway bars and extra bracing as standard.

It's about damn time!
