This weekend is Pebble Beach, a weekend where folks go around the Monterey Peninsula wearing nice clothes, drinking nice drinks, and driving nice cars. And we're taking a 1990s Mazda Eunos Cosmo, Mazda's upscale, Rotary powered, luxury coupe. What do you want to know?
(Full Disclosure: Mazda kindly loaned us the Eunos Cosmo from their basement collection as our ride around Monterey for a few days. RHD JDM FTMFW!)
This particular Eunos is a JC generation car, powered by the triple-rotor twin turbo 2.0. THREE ROTORS! All that was linked to the rear wheels through just one transmission: A four speed automatic.
Yes, a four speed auto. See, that was the Japanese luxury tradition at the time and this is a very JDM car. The Eunos didn't meet all Japanese regs, so it was oversized and caused owners to pay extra taxes just to drive it. That's what I call premium.
Over the next few days, I'll be driving the Eunos all over Monterey and updating on what it's like to live with in our world. A world that the Eunos never officially entered, even though it was supposed to with Mazda's failed Amati luxury brand.
But first, what do you want to know? Drop the questions below and I'll pop back throughout the weekend to give you answers!
