We like the Mazda Miata here at Jalopnik. Did you guys know that about us? And as it celebrates its birthday with an all-new one on the horizon, there's never been a better time to re-tell its origin story.
I like the way XCAR tells the story. It's in the most appropriate way possible: two dudes recount the car's beginning as they circle a track with the top down in a first-generation NA Miata.
Then they go through the car's three generations as they continue the story, and even bring along some of its most prominent influences like the Lotus Elan and MGB. There's also a few interesting custom jobs and one-offs along for the ride, including one with a 240 horsepower rotary engine. Not bad, right?
There's not a lot of sitting still when you tell the story of the Miata; it's all about driving. That's the way it was meant to be.
