We're mere weeks away from the debut of the 2016 Mazda Miata in California, a magical event where we will finally glimpse the next generation of the answer to every question. Until then — or until it leaks — we're left dreaming about what's under this sheet.
Mazda has a special Facebook page for the 2016 Miata reveal, and on it they showed off this photo of the new car under a sheet. In terms of its overall silhouette, the new Miata looks awfully similar to the outgoing one, but it's pretty hard to discern any details here.
The new Miata is said to be slightly smaller and about 220 pounds lighter than the current NC model, putting it closer to the original in terms of weight. We also think it will be turbocharged, at least as an option.
On Friday Miata.net showed off some photos of a camouflaged car that is almost certainly the one under this sheet. We're getting closer and closer to seeing the real thing, and I fully expect we will before Sept. 3.
