Friend-of-Jalopnik Robb Holland just became the first American to score points in the extremely competitive British Touring Car Championship since, well, what appears to be the great Dan Gurney. Unless Bill "The Goobs" Gubelmann managed to do it in 1975, and nobody said anything about it.

Robb and the rest of the Rotek Racing team started from 23rd on the grid at Snetterton today, and managed to claw their way up to 15th to finish in the points. What makes it all the more impressive is that the Rotek Audi managed to survive the race at all, considering the amount of crashes that occured. In Robb's words, it was "absolute carnage."

If you ever doubted Robb before, and I don't know why you would, seeing as his team won both the 25 Hours of Thunderhill and their class at the Nurburgring Six Hours (I definitely never have), you can now put those doubts to bed. BTCC is one of the toughest touring car circuits in the world, and only the top drivers survive.

Dan Gurney was the last American to score points in the series, by our research, when he won the 1963 Oulton Park round in a Ford Galaxie.

Congrats to Robb and the rest of the team!

Oh, also, U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! Because why not.
