When a tornado was bearing down on the residents of the energy boomtown of Watford, North Dakota, the only thought for safety these guys had was getting into their pickup truck. That couldn't be more wrong, and they're lucky they survived.
Granted, the guys were in what looks to be a trailer park, and there really aren't any good options, but a vehicle really is one of the worst places to get caught when you see a twister heading right for you. And that's because cars, and especially pickup trucks, have the aerodynamics of a brick. A brick that generates lift.
And there's nothing easier for a tornado to toss.
Also, you're surrounded by glass, and glass is no protection from oh, say, a fence being casually rammed through your windshield. If you are stuck in a car, the best thing you can do is not stay stationary, like these fracking bros, but hightail it as fast as you can away from the danger, and then get somewhere safe. Otherwise, keep your head down, and don't sit there like a goof, laughing and filming.

In a car or truck: Vehicles are extremely risky in a tornado. There is no safe option when caught in a tornado in a car, just slightly less-dangerous ones. If the tornado is visible, far away, and the traffic is light, you may be able to drive out of its path by moving at right angles to the tornado. Seek shelter in a sturdy building, or underground if possible. If you are caught by extreme winds or flying debris, park the car as quickly and safely as possible — out of the traffic lanes. Stay in the car with the seat belt on. Put your head down below the windows; cover your head with your hands and a blanket, coat, or other cushion if possible. If you can safely get noticeably lower than the level of the roadway,leave your car and lie in that area, covering your head with your hands. Avoid seeking shelter under bridges, which can create deadly traffic hazards while offering little protection against flying debris.
Again, these guys probably didn't have much choice, seeing as how they were in a trailer park and all. But they got incredibly lucky.
