You might consider infotainment systems to be the bane of your existence now, but back in the day they were pretty neat things. Gone were the analog dials and switches over your parents' yesteryear, and in their place, came audio touchscreens, trip computers, and yes, even the vaunted navigation systems.
It's adorable the way Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson marvels over it, but it was actually a huge leap forward at the time, and clearly heralded a bunch of possibilities. Now we have Twitter and Facebook integration, and both of those were invented by people who were only children back when this was filmed.
And while you may hate the fact that you can't get a car with a proper radio button anymore, you can blame cars like the Toyota Soarer, AKA the Lexus SC400 for that. Either that, or, you know, the march of progress.
One or the other.
