One of the most important parts of being a car enthusiast is bitching about things you can't have. I do it all the time: cars I can't afford, cars I can't buy in America, and cars that don't even exist but should.
Today we got the unfortunate news that a Subaru BRZ STI is not happening, even though everybody wants it. This led to a discussion between PatBateman, macanamera, myself and others over "imaginary cars" — cars that don't exist but really should because everyone wants them to.
So that's our question of the day: What's the most-desired car that never gets made?
This can be rumored cars, canceled cars, or cars that just exist in our dreams but are feasible in real life. The perennially-troubled "new" Mazda RX-7 is one suggestion. A Cayman Turbo is another.
But as my final answer I'll submit this: the Volkswagen BlueSport Concept. Yes, I do want an affodable German mid-engine sports car, a successor to the Porsche 914! You can keep the diesel and give it to me with a 2.0-liter turbo four instead. I'd buy that, but I can't.
Your turn: What's the most wanted car that isn't real?
