I have mixed feelings on car washes. On the one hand, I like watching all the cool machines do their thing because I am a child. On the other hand, it's a pain to have to take time out of your day to clean your car, plus you have to pay money, because I am an adult. But Nissan might've just gotten rid of it.
Nissan claims that this system produces a "self-cleaning car," but I'm a bit suspect of that terminology. It more looks like they spray hydrophobic paint on a Nissan Note, which helps it repel dirt. Leaving half the car pretty mucked up, and the other half pretty much sparkly.
And that'll be helpful for avoiding the pain of paying for a car wash.
On the other hand, it kind of reminds me of NeverWet, which left a fine residue wherever it went. So there's that. But maybe Nissan's figured out a way to make it work without the flakes, and maybe in more colors other than just white.
We'll find out if/when they actually decide to approve it for production.
