The Lexus NX300h Is Going To Be A Small, Pointy Crossover Hybrid

Ahead of its debut this month at the Beijing Auto Show, more photos of the production 2015 Lexus NX compact crossover have ended up on the Internet. And we have answers on two fronts: yes, there will be a hybrid version and it's almost as pointy as the LF-NX concept from last year.

A photo posted Thursday to a Worldscoop forum from what is reportedly an Automobile Magazine L'Automobile Magazine shoot gives us the clearest image yet of the production car, after seeing a grainy shot of the NX's front earlier this year. So it's very clear that the slashes and points carry over. I'm actually starting to dig those rocket-y taillights.

As Lexus' overdue rival to the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Volvo XC60, etc., the NX is expected to have the first application of a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four. But the car in this photo is badged NX300h, implying it gets the same 2.5-liter gas engine and electric system as the ES300h and not-for-U.S. IS300h.

A photo of the NX's interior also showed up. It looks like a Lexus, so loyalists won't be totally scared off.

Expect the NX to go on sale sometime in the next year.
