BMW Might Make A Huge X7 SUV In The USA

Following my rant on why it's taken so long for BMW to make an X7 SUV, various outlets have reported that the company's announcement next week about its South Carolina plant will include a big new crossover.

The Wall Street Journal cities sources close to BMW who say the company's announcement March 28 will reveal a new body shop and other improvements to its Spartanburg plant so that it can accommodate the long-rumored three-row X7 luxury crossover.

The plant already produces the X3, X5 and X6, and has just started making the X4 sports crossover thing that will debut next month at the New York Auto Show.

WSJ says sources expect most X7 production to stay in the U.S., with other big markets being China and some Middle East countries. That's not too surprising, since the X7 will do battle with big SUVs like the Mercedes GL-Class and Cadillac Escalade.

There's no word yet on when it'll go on sale, but expect it in the next few years.

OK, BMW, now you'll have really covered every niche for SUVs. Please, make it stop.
