Chevrolet has taken a page from the Porsche playbook. The lightweight 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 costs $20,000 more than the Camaro ZL1. And it'll be worth every penny.
Like the 1997 Mazda Miata STO, you could call this the Camaro STO, for "Stuff Taken Off." It has no stereo and no air conditioning. No HID headlights. Lighter battery. Thinner glass. Less sound deadening.
But that less also translates to more with 7.0 liters of glorious 505 horsepower LS7 engine, carbon ceramic brakes, and in excess of one G in the corners. There is one $1,150 option package which adds AC and a few speakers back into the car. But only the wimps will buy that.
The Z/28 will be on sale in the spring, and you can get it in red, black, silver, grey, or white. I'll take mine in any color, please.
