Look, if you don't pay for parking in London, you're getting a ticket. Even if you're a former U.S. Secretary of State and the wife of an ex-president accompanied by your official Secret Service detail. Them's the breaks, Mrs. Clinton!
A London traffic warden described by the UK's Daily Mail as "fearless" nailed a Mercedes-Benz van Hillary Clinton was riding in with a ticket after he found it had been parked for nearly 45 minutes without paying.
And when a member of Clinton's Secret Service detail jumped out of the van to protest, the unflappable warden continued unabated and issued the ticket as he would anyone else.
Clinton was in London over the weekened attending an event at the Chatham House. The fine came out to £80, or just £40 if it's paid within the next 14 days.
Arguably the best part is that the city has the traffic warden's back. Here's what they said in response, according to the story, emphasis mine:
Cllr Daniel Astaire, Westminster City Council cabinet member for business, told MailOnline: 'Despite our traffic marshal being questioned by the secret service for just doing his job, he was in the right.
'The former US Secretary of State was parked for nearly 45 minutes without paying. I’m sure she will understand that we have to be fair to everyone, regardless of their status on the world stage.
'For future reference, Mrs Clinton can now also download a parking app for her iPhone which will tell her in real time where a parking space is in the City of Westminster.'
Yeah, Hillary. Just use the app next time.
