Ford has finished its "1000 Lap Challenge" with the 2011 Mustang V-6, cruising at 43 mph for 18 hours. One tank of gas, 1457 laps, and 48.5 mpg. Not bad for a 305-hp pony car.

It's no secret we dig the 2011 Mustang. The new 412HP 5.0-liter V8 made a decent pony car coherent. This ad, however, features the 31MPG, 305HP V6 dressed in dark gray with black wheels. It looks... awesome. We're now conflicted.

For the last year, every Mustang review has essentially read, "an involving, exciting sports car, but it's slower than the Camaro." In the muscle market, it's power, not handling, which sells. Luckily, the 2011 Ford Mustang fixes that. Moar power!

2011 Ford Mustang V6 EPA certification just finished and, though Ford predicted 30MPG from their 305HP 3.7-liter V6, they actually got 31. According to Ford, it's the first 300HP+ car ever to return over 30MPG. Having cake, eating it too.

The 2011 Ford Mustang V6 will get a Camaro-beating 315 HP V6, according to leaked info posted on The Mustang Source. The new "Coyote" V8, however, will only make 400 HP, slightly behind the Camaro SS. More below.
