The long-awaited, non rap-tease version of Gykmhana 3 brings much for the enthusiast to love, including spark-inducing donuts and one epic Jalopnik-inspired drift up the wall of a freaking antique French Autodrome.
Ken Block and DC Shoes created the automotive viral video equivalent of Ebola with his original drifting-cum-LSD-fueled-acrobatics Gymkhana, followed by Gymkhana 2 and Gymkhana 2.1.
But whereas the teaser for Gym 3 lacked a lot of the Gymkhana we were expecting, Gymkhana 3 is a technical wonder. An homage to the limits of man and machine. We see a return of the stunts that made the original so re-watchable (Segway drift with Jalopnik super friend Brian Scotto at the helm of said Segway, super donuts) and the special addition of a rain-soaked 1440 and a 360-degree drift up a 51-degree wall.
"The stunts I perform in Gymkhana THREE, Part 2 are without a doubt the craziest stuff I have ever attempted behind the wheel," said Block. "We knew in order to out do the previous films, we'd really have to take it to the next level, and since you can't kickflip a car, the location needed to allow me to do things never done before in car. Sure, I've seen people drift banks, but never ones this steep, and never head on. I treated the Autodrome's 51-degree wall like a quarter pipe and it was awesome. Awesomely sketchy! Who knew you could do a wall ride in a car?"
It turns out we knew all along. According to the bearded Segway Stuntman, Block and the MWRT/DC Shoes crew decided to hit up France after reading this Jalopnik post about the Autodrome de Montlhéry.
