Californians nabbed by red-light cameras may soon have some extra money to spend on frisbees, lethicin and amyl nitrate tabs, or whatever Californians spend their money on. (C'mon, we kid the Californians!) A California Supreme Court ruling could lead the way to mass refunds for fines levied for violations caught by red-light cameras. The court ruled that cities must heed a 30-day period of warning for every camera they install, not just for the first cameras implemented. The distinction is an important one for state residents, many of whom have challenged tickets they've received on the grounds that cities failed to notify them of a camera's presence in an intersection — an interpretation upheld by the court.
