So Ram Made A Copy

Okay, maybe everyone needs to pump their brakes a little bit on the effusive praise for Ram's Super Bowl commercial.

As Slate pointed out tonight, the stunning Ram ad featuring Paul Harvey's "So God Made A Farmer" poem looks an awful lot like this YouTube ad from 2011 for Farms.com. They note that the reading comes from a speech Harvey gave at a Future Farmers of America convention in 1978.

Ram's ad was shot much better than this one, and it is still extremely compelling. But it's hard to deny the similarities here. Maybe it's a coincidence, maybe not.

Update: A Chrysler employee tells us Farms media worked with RAM on the spot, so while it's clearly a copy of the other ad, it appears it's a legitimate (and better) copy.
