Mercedes revealed their new AMG convertible in the launch video for their 2012 F1 car. With a 529 horsepower, 5.5 liter twin-turbo V8 and all the customary AMG accessories, the new SL63 is going to make lot of country club show-offs very happy.

Mercedes' marketing department is definitely stuck in the past, what with naming a 5.5 liter GT car after a 6.3 liter sedan from the ‘60s. At least their engineering department is current; the SL63's aluminum/magnesium structure drops over 110 kilos (240 pounds) compared to the 2012 model. That's still over 4,000 pounds, which is about as much as a full-size Chevrolet from the early ‘70s.

Then again, an 18-foot Caprice couldn't do 0-60 in 4.3 seconds, so it's not a fair comparison.

What's really amazing is that in the video you can see the 2013 SL63 magically turn a 43-year-old, bored Michael Schumacher into an excited, young Nico Rosberg. The SL63 AMG doesn't just make you feel younger; it can actually transform you into a 26-year-old German athlete. Amazing.
