Hear an electric Camaro quietly make 2,000 lb-ft of torque

Electric drag racing has advanced far enough for battery-powered vehicles to put serious times on the boards, but it's been much rarer to hear what one sounds like on a dyno. This one, being built for a record run, is twisting 2,000 ft-lb of torque at its wheels.

Caught by a dnyo shop worker who was amazed at the live wires and strange noise from the run, the Camaro-based dragster only made a couple of dyno attempts before its batteries malfunctioned, one of the side dangers of using electrons for speed. We can see from the video that this is the same Camaro shown in another clip below crashing at a drag strip after some apparent trouble managing all that rotational motion.
