Ride through the Alps on a Lotus

From a 192-mile drive through the Swiss and Italian Alps to Monaco, Jasper Dekker and Ard Jacobs distilled this four-minute clip of riding along on a Lotus Elise through the Stelvio Pass and beyond. It's enough to make you swear off interstates.

What's also striking: the lack of traffic in summer. I know it's not a populated area, that driving is more expensive in Europe, and that public transit and trains may be faster. But there may be more than a cultural difference; the small diesels that make up a majority of new European cars wouldn't feel as wonderful on these roads as a typical U.S. midsize sedan and a gas V6. These roads may not be so fun when your floored in second gear and barely climbing the next hill.

Also, maybe less music next time and more engine whine.
