Audi rolled out two new A6 sedans here today. The standard model in a devilish red and the A6 Hybrid, which can travel 62mph on electric power alone by way of a 45hp e-motor, in a more angelic silver.
Following the Q5 Hybrid Quattro, the Audi A6 hybrid uses a parallel-hybrid system, pairing a 211-hp 2.0 TFSI with a 45 hp electric motor providing 155.63 lb-ft of torque. Like the Q5, the electric motor replaces the torque converter upstream of a tweaked 8-speed Tiptronic. An air-cooled 1.3 kWh battery generates up to 39 kW. A new indicator on the instrument cluster and MMI interface display the hybrid-drive festivities.
The 2012 Audi A6 carries over the eye-liner look being transplanted across the range, as well as a less curvier exterior.
