Anybody else having a strange feeling of deja vu? You should because it was only a month ago that we watched Dodge unveil the 2008 Dodge Challenger and a month later they are back, unveiling the three different Challenger models for 2009. Included is the Dodge Challenger SRT8, the Challenger SE and the Challenger R/T.
The SRT8 is obviously the most important unveil with a 425 HP 6.1-liter V8 HEMI that is now available with a manual transmission. The Challenger SE has a 250 HP 3.5-liter V6 HEMI capable of 25 MPG on the highway and a 276 watt Boston Connect sound system. The Challenger R/T has a 370 HP 5.7-liter V8 HEMI that is also available with a track pack that includes a six speed manual transmission and more.

They should make a winter sled version...
The only thing i hate about it is the fixed B-pillar. It would have been SO cool if it had a roll down 1/4 window there.
Shaker? Maybe in 2010, which they should reveal later this week...
No AWD model?
I know j/k
SE. . .ewwwww
Red hot and Blue cool, I will take two.
"250 HP 3.5-liter V6 HEMI"
Thats new.
this car makes my body feel funny :)
There appears to be a technical issue with the web site as several of those pictures are displaying the car in a tone other than the prerequisite orange. Please rectify as soon as possible.
I was under the impression that the powers that be weren't releasing this bad boy with a V6?
Even so, it apparently has a Hemi as well!
so every version has the hood scoops, the chin spoiler, the ducktail spoiler... that means the only visual cue that an SRT8 isn't an SE is the fake carbon fiber stripes and the not-colormatched spoiler? huh.
at least they brought back the ribbed leateher seats...
Absolutely gorgeous cars.
I agree though that the SRT8 isn't as well-differentiated from the lesser models as the Charger. Chrysler will be addressing that when they add the manual and more power to the SRT8 soon.
I'd also like to see some Charger-Daytona style stripe packages become available as well as the candy colors that car enjoyed.
This thing is made to be yellow, purple, and green.
@smokyburnout: Those are all likely appearance options. They dont want to bring the ugly stripper models to the unveil, right?
..I'm losing my love for this car. It looks bad in silver, it makes that double chin so much more obvious.
I want an orange one please.
the blue looks RRRREEEEAAALYLLLYYYY nice and silver is much better then orange, they both look extremely well complimented by the flat spoiler and double chin thingy. (Technical Tuesday was yesterday)
I heart the blue one, but yearn for the convertible...
Where the hell is the Green and Plum?
Did they change the interior a bit? These pics make the interior look very nice. Not so doom and gloom.
Also includes a Track Pack?
How about an 8-track?
Maybe add a glass pack?
How about my money back?
Needs Rallye wheels.
@Morphine: What about a six-pack.
Ride it Chrysler. Ride it as long as you possibly can.
@SundaySunday: Needs steelies with dog dishes
Where's the naked chick on the hood?
Ok guys, take a look at the color charts available for the Charger, and that's what will be available for the Challenger... Lets see..
Brilliant Black Metallic, Inferno Red Pearl Coat, Bright Silver Metallic, High Performance Red, Deep Water Blue Pearl Coat, Hemi Orange Pearl, and White. The SE isn't available in Hemi Orange, and the SRT-8 is only available in High Performance Red, Black, and Silver.
I guess they will be saving all of the special colors to be released later in coming years, like Ford does with the Mustang.
I do have to admit, I'm glad they kept the seat pattern, cause next to the Y pattern of my 65 Impala seats, I've always liked the "pack of hotdogs".
@danio3834: The SE has Steelies, with wheel covers, so I guess you could get these at any Mopar Dealer, or probably the Cop Rims that will fit!
Jesus Chrysler...STOP using that crappy hard plastic in your interiors. It feels like a Play-schol gym set.
@UDMan: Actually, I'm fairly certain the LX cars use a 4.5x5 bolt circle, so just about any old school Mopar muscle car rim would fit.
if you go to the gallery page on the dodge site there's a quaint video full of dirtroad powerslides that make this car what it is.
@danio3834: the bolt patter is actually 5x115 and not 5x114.3. you can put the 5x4.5 wheels on there but they don't technically fit and you are just gambling that they will fail or not.
@StuPidaso: Id say .7mm is a fair gamble, Mr. Nader.
Can I get the SE in silver with a black vinyl top and the smaller rear window? An angeled chin spoiler and a little black paint across the bottom and this would be a hottie.
Pity the interior looks like it is made of the same materials as the Caliber ... *cough* crap *cough*
anyone notice this with the official press photos?
vs.
Looks like dodge cut down the costs of photographers too...
Damn, cant make the photos work:

Nice photoshop paintjob that...
yay, found the right code for inserting the pics,
anyone notice this?
vs.
(sorry about the multiple posts)
@danio3834: well the only reason i mention this is that some LX owners have experienced hub and lug failures do the the .7mm. course i'm sure this is the 30" chrome wagon wheel crowd also. all i know is wheel fitments isn't something i think i want to play around on
The car looks hot in red, but the other colors are crap. The interior is spartan looking, just using dark gray plastic doesn't = carbon fiber. I hope they have some options for interior like saddle or tan, something a little brighter than that.
Of course the Hemi is a great motor, but I'm glad that they aren't using the Viper engine in this, which the dealer needs all kinds of special tools and training to service.
