There’s nothing quite like the sunlight gleaming off of a restored red paint job, is there? Luckily, this photo gives us more than one dose of it.

Our featured wallpaper comes from photographer Marshall Autry, who took this shot during Washington’s Biplane Weekend event in 2013. The photo features a Beechcraft Staggerwing D17S from the Historic Flight Foundation, with a complementing touring car it its shadow.

This particular bi-plane began its military service at Sandpoint Air Naval Station in Seattle, Washington in 1944. Before its restoration, the plane served as civilian transport in the U.S. and Canada for several decades as well as a museum display. For more on the D17S in general, the foundation’s website features a quick record of the its history.

Here’s hoping that you’ll soar through the next week, folks (but not necessarily through the rest of the weekend, because you need to enjoy that while you can). If you happen to take some photos worthy of desktop decorating while you’re at it, don’t forget to send them to the email address below.
