The Detroit Auto Show set the stage for the annual designer-on-designer stroke fest, the 2009 Eyes On Design Awards. We've got the results after the jump.
Each year the Eyes On Design committee invites the best-of-the-best to their annual shindig in the lower depths of Cobo Hall. The awards are given to the most impressively designed vehicles exhibited at the Detroit Auto Show and are divided into two categories; Design Excellence for Concept Cars and Design Excellence for Production Cars. John McElroy of Autoline Detroit fame, was the MC for the event and was quick to introduce the three chief judges; Chris Bangle, BMW's design chief; Willie G Davidson, Harley-Davidson chief styling officer; and Larry Erickson, chair of transportation design at the College for Creative Studies. The over-sized egos sucking up all the oxygen and the strange stench from the EcoXperience test track made for a dizzying experience, but we were pleased with the award winners, though we thought Volvo's S60 and Chrysler's 200C deserved a spot.
