Why Is Tanner Foust Driving A Ford SVT Raptor Around The Nürburgring?

A few of you noticed there was a special vehicle in the background of the insane Honda CR-V Nürburgring crash from this weekend. Specifically, a bright blue Ford SVT Raptor with none other than Tanner Foust in the driver's seat.

What's going on here?

So far all we've been able to get out of Ford is confirmation that SVT did set up Top Gear USA host and hooning legend Tanner Foust with everyone's favorite super truck. There's also video of him getting the ass-end of the Raptor around.

Everything else — at this point — is a mystery.
